Demolition Derby!

Yesterday was the Outlaw Demo Derby at the Huron County Fairgrounds! Although it was completely freezing outside, I just couldn't miss the event! Brian had a few cars in the demo to represent his bar, "Rupp's Place" that were in the compact car series, and my good friend, Bart Bergstedt had a truck in the truck series. The event started about 45 mins later than what it was suppose to because we were waiting on North Central EMS to arrive. But after 45 minutes of waiting and still no EMS personel, they said that the Norwalk Firefighters were trained for emergency situations and would be able to handle anything that happened...So the show finally began!

The 3rd heat was when Brian's cars were up for show. The one was painted red, white, and blue with Rupp's Place written on the hood, back, and sides...it was an old Honda car, and the other car was a white Ford Escort painted red with Rupp's Place all over it. Both cars ran pretty well, the little Honda got cornered and smashed up against the wall and the caught on fire...so they stopped the derby so the driver(Raymond) could jump out and to check to make sure everything was ok! Not much longer after that the little white car got smacked from behind and completely smashed the car up. The front end was as good as gold, but with no wheels in the back...it was a little hard to go anymore. They both had good runs, but neither one won the series.

Up next was the truck series...Bart had an old Chevy pick up truck, at first they didn't have the right rims for the tires on the truck so they had to run home and change out the rims so they would fit the bigger tires. Bart ran pretty good but by the end of the derby his truck looked like it was going to collapse in between the cab and the bed liner!

Around 5pm everything was done and over with and I couldn't get to my car fast enough to get home and sit infront of the heater to thaw out my body before having to go to Volleyball. It was such a cold day...but so much fun!

Mo & Tony get hitched!

What a beautiful day it turned out to be for Mo and Tony! After all the crappy cold weather we have been having they were lucky to get a warm 70 degree wedding day in October! Everything was just gorgeous...along with the BRIDE! Mo has been one of my best friends for years, we used to do everything together! One summer all we did was play "pepper" out in my front yard...it was so great to find someone that was as active as me! It was like she was my clone, the clone I always wanted! I am so happy that she found an amazing person to spend the rest of her life with, and luckily, he is a fellow OSU graduate too! So the theme to the wedding was scarlet and gray, and they entered in the reception to the song O-H-I-O! Too Funny! But everyone was standing doing the famous hand signs with them!

The wedding itself was at St. Paul Catholic Church! That is the church I have always seen myself getting married in, otherwise I see myself on a beach! The wedding took about an hour and afterwards we all went outside for a group picture that Maureen and Tony requested. We had a few hours before the reception started so I went home to lay down for a bit! The reception was held at Mesenberg's in Huron. So I headed over a little early to make sure I could sit with Kelly's family, since they were really the only people I knew besides Mo's family!

When it was time to catch the flowers, my good friend Kelly was all about making sure she got the bouquet! So Mo throws it and all of a sudden you see 3 girls down on the ground fighting for the flowers, and who comes up with the bouquet? KELLY! She was so excited! The party continued on, but I was too tired and ready to go home.

Congrats MO and TONY! I know you will have a happy, healthy, and great Marriage together! I love you both!

Porsche Track Day!

Getting up at 3am to leave at 4:45am was a very early start for me but totally worth it! I went to Beaverun to race a Porche Carrera(997) S with Bill Gerken, a good family friend! It was a long drive there, 2 1/2 hours! But once we got there we went through tech and got all our registration taken care of before heading to class. It was freezing and rainy outside and they held the meeting outdoors when we were standing right outside a huge classroom...I didn't get that. But after the meeting we met up with our instructors, mine was Earl Seiler, he was a great guy and really knew what it was like for me because his daughter used to race when she was my age! So that put me at ease a little bit, but the rain was still a concern for me....I was not trying to wreck a $100,000 car! Bill told me that it would be fine, if you spin out...no bid deal. Yea, no big deal, I will just wreck a car that is worth more than my life!

As I headed off to class to learn a little bit about the track: turns, apexing, turn in, track out and flags...I was ready to hit the track, with my instructor, of course! With the track being a little wet I was more cautious and even more nervous. But as I got in the groove of the track, I was ok! When I came in I was all shooken up...a rush like no other, but yet still nervous. We ran into town to get a bite to eat(all they had was a gas station and a subway)! Once we got back we had another class to finish learning about all 12 turns and how turn 9, although nothing major is always over looked and most accidents occur on that turn. Then it was time to get back out on the track! I went back out with a little more courage to go faster! I think I really impressed my instructor because he kept saying Nice Kaci, Good Job and the best was when he said PERFECT run!

After my last run I was whooped and so tired, but knew I had a 2 1/2 drive home in nasty rainy weather. I was numb, due to the cold and just couldn't get warm. When we got home I was telling my mom and Pam about my biggy day and how I can't wait to do it again, but closer to home(Mid-Ohio) and in warm weather!
